Storage, transport and distribution
The primary application of the Bag-In-Tank system is for the storage, transport and distribution of beer. This might be transport from the brewery to the bottling plant, or even directly to the bar or pub, where beer can be drawn directly from the tank.
An increasing number of microbreweries and brewpubs also use the air-tight bags for lagering beer with limited post-fermentation. The beer pressure required can be simply regulated by adjusting the air pressure in the tank on the outside of the bag, without any unnecessary additional CO2 having to be added to the beer.
Because beer takes a long time to mature, the tank must be chilled for a prolonged period. Duotank tanks can be fitted with an insulated jacket and cooling coil. This means that beer can mature outside the cold room, eliminating the need for a refrigerator.
