The tank beer system has been developed to optimize the distribution of beer. The beer goes straight from the brewery into insulated transport tanks. From those tanks the beer goes directly in the cooled thanks at the bars and pubs. The tanks are fitted with a recyclable, air-tight plastic bag that stores the beer. Thanks to the plastic bag, the tanks stays clean. During refilling only the bag needs to be changed and the piercing unit needs to be cleaned. Because the plastic bag is 100% air-tight no extra CO2 comes in the beer. Subsequently, the beer is pressed out of the tank using pressurized air. Filling the tank takes around 8 minutes.
The system doesn’t only save costs, but the process also becomes more controllable ensuring that the beer comes out of the tap in the most optimal condition. This also benefits the lifetime of the beer. Most breweries guarantee unpasteurized tank beer up to 12 weeks.
