The Pressure Equipment Directive was designed in 1999 and is enforced since 2002. It was designed in order to eliminate technical barriers to trade between members of the European Union. The purpose of the PED is to harmonize legislation between EU member states regarding the the design, manufacture, testing and conformity assessment of pressure equipment. The PED concerns items such as vessels, pressurized storage containers, heat exchangers, steam generators, boilers, industrial piping, safety devices and pressure accessories.
The PED states that the above mentioned items should be safe, meet essential safety requirements, satisfy appropriate conformity assessment procedures and carry the CE marking. For years now, Duotank has been granted the PED H and H1 certifications. These certifications are aimed at quality insurance regarding the manufacturing process of pressure equipment. The H1-certificate is also concerning quality insurance during the design process.
